Why a new HL7 editor in 2026?
Integration engineers are squeezed between free tools that stopped updating years ago and enterprise products priced for nine-figure hospital systems. BridgeLab targets the middle: actively maintained, FHIR-capable, native on macOS and Linux, with a free core for real work.
Large-message ready
SIMD-accelerated streaming parser with on-demand field truncation. Open multi-megabyte ORU^R01 messages with base64 attachments in under two seconds. The editor never shows you 10 MB of raw text.
Client and listener, bidirectional
Send via MLLP, HTTP and HTTPS, listen on any port with auto-ACK and a live inbox. Connection profiles are saved per protocol. Everything works offline against your own test servers.
Validation and FHIRPath 2.0
Structural, field-level and data-type validation, plus FHIR conformance against the R4 core and any package you install: cardinality, element types, choice elements, unknown elements, Bundle references. A full FHIRPath 2.0 evaluator, checked against the official HL7 test suite.

PHI anonymization
89 built-in PHI fields across PID, PV1, MRG, NK1, GT1, IN1 and IN2, plus NTE comments and free-text OBX results, with sensitivity-aware masking, extendable via plugin packs. Messages remain valid; review fields outside the catalogue and Z-segments before sharing.
Field Inspector
Right-click any field to see its schema-derived name, type, cardinality, length limits and current value, from the version the message declares in MSH-12.
HL7 codes, explained
All 394 HL7 value tables, about 5,000 codes, mapped per version to every coded field: the tree shows M - Male next to the value.
ACK filters
Listener and send history filter by outcome — AA, AE, AR, no ACK, failed — each with a live count. Every MLLP send records the ACK it got back.
XSD schema export
A standards-compliant XSD for any HL7 v2 message type in one click. Four common v2.5 messages are free; the full catalogue comes with Pro.
